Maria Elisabeth Dibs

Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW #126572)

My name is Maria. I am a board-registered Associate Clinical Social Worker. I provide services under the clinical supervision of Nahomie Guillaume, LMFT (48571), and Ashley Oakes, LCSW (130871).

The world we live in is difficult. It demands more of us than ever before, and we are expected to adapt to the added pressure.

I strive to foster a safe space for folks who feel tired, confused, or misunderstood by the world today. I particularly enjoy working with deeply feeling, neurodiverse individuals whose minds have a deeper capacity for both joy and pain alike. I enjoy helping clients process difficult experiences, such as reexamining their core values and the beliefs that guide their worldview. I am a big fan of self-compassion practices, because I believe changing your life for the better begins with knowing that you deserve better.

I am the proud daughter of a Polish immigrant mother and a Middle Eastern father. I have been a highly sensitive person since childhood and have embraced my neurodiversity in adulthood. I am also comfortable supporting clients who are questioning long-held beliefs, navigating religious deconstruction, or exploring identity and belonging.

I received my MSW from Sacramento State in 2024 and my BA in psychology from Sonoma State in 2019. I began clinical practice in 2022, and my experience spans all age groups in a variety of settings, including school-based services, community mental health, child and family services, and forensic/community justice settings. I began working with children in schools and have most recently supported adults who are navigating complex trauma, serious mental illness, substance use, and justice involvement. As different as those populations may seem from one another, the common thread is this: every person wants and deserves to feel heard, validated, and accepted.

My work has included intake assessment, individual therapy, crisis intervention, psychosocial rehabilitation, case management, care coordination, and support for caregivers. I draw from trauma-informed, strengths-based, motivational interviewing, DBT, CBT, and solution-focused approaches while tailoring care to each person’s needs.

When I am not holding space for my clients, I’m usually found weight training at the gym, playing video games, cuddling my therapy cat, or being hyper-focused on my latest creative hobby (e.g., diamond art, coloring).

I firmly believe that we are never too far gone to find our footing again. What I tell folks who have lost hope is this: we owe it to ourselves to discover our truest, most beautiful calling on this earth. We owe it to ourselves to find what excites us, the people who understand us, and the spaces that make us feel safe.

If my approach resonates with you, I would love the opportunity to support you on your journey.
